This season you will see some new coaching faces assisting with some practices and clinics and bringing their expertise to our Jr. SunDogs Volleyball Club. We are pleased to announce that for the 2017 season, three guest coaches, Mark Dodds, Shelley Dodds and Brittany Marshall will be joining our club. These coaches come with a wealth of knowledge and expertise which we are thrilled to have guiding our athletes and our coaches throughout the season.
Mark Dodds has been the head coach of the University of Saskatchewan Huskie Women’s Volleyball program since the 2015-2016 season. Dodds has a rich history with the Huskies program, as he was a member of the Huskie Men’s Volleyball coaching staff in 2011-2012, as well as Dodds played with the Huskies from 2002 to 2006. In that time, Dodds led the team in kills and service aces. He sits third all-time on the Huskies career kill list with 939. He was named an all-star four times, a CIS All-Canadian three times and was the Canada West and CIS MVP in 2005-2006. He won the national championship with the Huskies in 2004. Dodds also had a successful career with the Canadian Senior Team and also represented Canada at the World Universiade.
Shelley Dodds has been a part of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Women’s Volleyball Coaching Staff since the 2013-2014 season as an Assistant Coach. She also has been an assistant coach for the Team Saskatchewan Western Canada Summer Games Women’s team and a head coach for the Jr. Huskies Club Volleyball Program. Shelley played for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds for four years as well as four additional years with Team Canada. Following this, she spent time playing Professionally in Switzerland and Romania.
Brittany Marshall took over as Saskatchewan Volleyball Association’s Women’s High Performance Coach in 2015. She completed her volleyball career in the NCAA Division I American East Conference as a University of Maine Black Bear from 2005 to 2009. In 2012, she married her best friend and they embarked on a new adventure in Canada. Marshall currently assists in coaching senior and junior girls in Kyle, as well as provides a developmental/competitive volleyball program for girls called West Central Wind. Her proudest moment as as coach in Saskatchewan thus far has been leading the 18U Team Sask Green to a third place finish over B.C. at the national Team Challenge Cup this past summer.
Mark and Shelley will be providing three weekend clinics to our athletes and coaches throughout the season. Brittany will be providing regular assistance at practices for all of our Jr. SunDogs teams. We welcome Mark, Shelley and Brittany to the Jr. SunDogs Volleyball Club!
